Pepsi/Safeway Grant Contest - Finalist

Some good news finally from the Pepsi Grant Contests. We finished in the #1 slot in voting for the Pepsi/Safeway Education Grant Contest. Just awaiting confirmation. Then comes the verification and paperwork process.

Thank you to all who supported us. The animals will thank you even more.

We also just filed our Articles of Incorporation for our Kritter Koalition Non-Profit Status.

Katz Krusade Cat Refuge - August Pepsi Contest

Well the 250K August campaign is not faring very well after finishing #4 in June and #5 in July. But not to fret. We are entered in a 15K Pepsi/Safeway contest beginning Aug.11 for a two week voting period. The top 3 receive the grant. More information on how and where to vote in the next few days.

New Rescues

This has been a busy week. A solid black feral cat gave birth to 1 calico kitten in a person's garage. The people managed to keep lock up the garage to keep the mom and baby in place. Upon receiving the call, we went with carrier, gloves and food in hand. With patience and by placing the newborn kitten in the crate, we managed to catch the mom. They are both doing well. Mom slowly calming down. She is being a good mother so hand feeding the baby is so far not necessary. The baby is fat and happy.

A few days later we received a call from a person who had two 6 week old kittens and could no longer take care of them. We took them in. They are brother and sister. Both are long haired. The girl is jet black and the boy is black with white toes. They are happy, healthy and full of energy. They should easily find a loving permanent home.

Well, we finished #5. #4 last month and #5 this month. Getting so close and not getting there is so very frustrating. So on to August we go. Any support you are still willing to give would be greatly appreciated. Lastly, having finished in the top 10 for 3 straight months, we just submitted a version of our 250K idea for the 50K category for September. Figure with all the effort put out by all, if we don't succeed in the 250K, 50K is not too bad. :-)
